Priority 4 – A Competitive Economy
Priority 4 is aimed at supporting business, in particular small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs), through training and development and encouraging new business development. The Priority is sub-divided into 3 measures: Measure 4A.1 – aims to encourage more companies to undertake staff training. Types of activity eligible under this measure include: - Awareness raising activity on the benefits of employee development
- Research into the learning needs at local, regional or national level
- Development of new learning materials aimed at a particular sector
Measure 4A.2 – aims to develop the skills of employees and managers. Types of activity eligible under this measure include: - Training courses for employees of SMEs
- Guidance for employees facing redundancy
- Management development seminars
Measure 4B.1 – aims to encourage new business development. Types of activity eligible under this measure include: - Research linked to entrepreneurship and new business activity
- Awareness raising events to encourage business start-up
- Training and guidance for individuals interested in business start-up
