EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES: EQUALITY IN PRACTICE – MAKING IT
WORK
A PRACTICAL GUIDE FOR THE STRUCTURAL FUNDS
“Equality
in Practice – Making it Work” was formally launched on the 29th of October 2004
at the Objective 2 East of Scotland and Objective 3 Horizontal Themes Conference
in Dunfermline. This can be downloaded from Equality in Practice - Making it Work.
The guide offers examples of how best to mainstream equal opportunities
throughout projects. It provides case studies and methods to help
demonstrate good practice and its replication within the five Structural Funds
programmes and the four Community Initiative Programmes in Scotland.
The guide can be broken down into 3 main sections:
• A background to the Scottish approach to Equal Opportunities
mainstreaming • Methods in which mainstreaming equality can be applied
to different types of projects at design and delivery stages.
• Examples of good practice project case studies within the
Structural Funds Programmes
Equal Opportunities is a vital issue which needs to be addressed at Local,
National and European levels within the Structural Funds Programmes. The
Scottish Executive and the European Commission are keen to ensure inequalities
in relation to gender, disabilities, minority ethnic groups and any other social
excluded groups are addressed through the Structural Funds
Programmes.
